The fire, which once had three active fronts, was brought under control at 2:30 am, according to a source from the Alentejo Litoral Sub-regional Command.

However, road traffic on the Complementary Itinerary 1 (IC1) remains blocked in both directions since 5:00 pm in the Ermidas-Sado area, the same source reported.

As of around 3:00 am today, 303 personnel were on the ground, supported by 105 land vehicles.

The government decided on Tuesday to extend the alert situation until 11:59 pm on Friday due to weather forecasts indicating rising temperatures and an increased risk of rural fires.

A statement from the Ministry of Internal Administration notes that “all exceptional measures previously implemented will be maintained during this period.”

The four main fires raging in mainland Portugal were being fought by more than 1,300 personnel around 3:00 am.

According to the website of the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC), at that time, the fire in Vila Real was being tackled by 463 personnel supported by 152 land vehicles, the fire in Trancoso (Guarda) involved 476 firefighters and 161 vehicles, the fire in Tabuaço (Viseu) had 291 personnel and 93 vehicles, and the fire in Sátão (Viseu) was being managed by 93 personnel with 28 land vehicles.

These are the largest fires listed by Civil Protection among ongoing rural fires (not yet controlled/resolved) categorized as “significant occurrences,” as described by their duration or the number of resources involved.
