A brush fire in the municipality of Idanha-a-Nova engaged eight aerial units and over 150 personnel late this afternoon, according to a source from the Civil Protection Agency.
“The fire is in brushland and poses no threat to populated areas. It is being fought by 159 personnel supported by 45 vehicles and eight aerial units,” the source added at 19:30 today.
The Beira Baixa Sub-regional Command of Civil Protection reported that the alert was triggered at 17:22 in Vale de Covado, in the parish of Oledo, Idanha-a-Nova, in the district of Castelo Branco.
In Ponte de Lima, over 100 personnel were combating a fire with three fronts in Vitorino dos Piães by late afternoon, disclosed a source from the Alto Minho Sub-Regional Command.
When asked if there were any homes at risk, the source described the area as rural with scattered dwellings and mentioned that an uninhabited house was burned earlier in the day.
