The fire that broke out this afternoon in the parish of Matas and Cercal, in Ourém, has an active front and is mobilizing more than 190 operatives, a Civil Protection source told Lusa.
According to a source from the Médio Tejo Sub-Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command, the fire is consuming an area of scrubland, which has a “peri-urban perimeter”, although “there is still no information about houses at risk”.
“The wind is hampering” operations on the ground, added the same source, noting that the fire has an active front.
Initially, this fire was attributed to the parish of Caranguejeira, in the municipality of Leiria.
However, this new outbreak of fire started at 15:30 in the village of Outeiro das Gameiras, in the municipality of Ourém, in the district of Santarém.
At 17:19, the website of the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority indicated that 192 operatives had been mobilized, supported by 50 vehicles and eight aircraft.
