An ongoing fire in Pombal has been brought under control, and Highway 1 (A1) has reopened after a one-hour closure, authorities from GNR and Civil Protection confirmed.
The highway was closed around 1:45 PM on the south-north lane between Leiria and Pombal and was reopened at 2:46 PM, with traffic flowing normally.
The fire reached a resolution phase by 2:22 PM, according to a source from the Sub-regional Command for Emergency and Civil Protection of Leiria.
The forest fire started at 12:53 PM in the Pinheirinho area, in the Pombal municipality, Leiria district.
As of 3:50 PM, there were 69 operatives on-site, supported by 17 vehicles and two aerial resources.
