Fire in Ponte da Barca remains active (but “without houses at risk”)

Approximately 80 operatives, 21 vehicles, and four aerial means were actively engaged in combating a fire as of 9:30 a.m. The Sub-Regional Command of Alto Minho confirmed there is no risk to residential areas.

A spokesperson from the Sub-Regional Command of Alto Minho, ANEPC, stated earlier today that efforts to contain the fire have been hampered by the “difficult access” to the area. However, it was emphasized that the blaze near Parada in the Lindoso parish was confined to a scrubland area, posing no threat to any settlements.

The fire alert was issued around 9:47 p.m. on Saturday.

The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) has extended a yellow weather warning for hot weather across 13 districts in mainland Portugal until 6 p.m. Tuesday. The warning will end in Faro at 9 p.m. Monday.

The districts currently under a yellow warning include Beja, Braga, Bragança, Castelo Branco, Évora, Guarda, Portalegre, Porto, Santarém, Setúbal, Viana do Castelo, Vila Real, and Viseu. These areas will remain under alert until the end of the day on Tuesday.

In the districts of Braga, Porto, and Viana do Castelo, IPMA has issued a special temperature warning, especially affecting inland areas. The forecast for the upcoming days predicts hotter-than-normal weather conditions for this time of the year.
