The commander of the Ponte de Lima Volunteer Firefighters stated that fire combat operations this afternoon are not supported by aerial resources due to “lack of availability,” complicating efforts on the four active fronts.
“Unfortunately, there is no availability of aerial resources here,” said Carlos Lima, adding that this information was conveyed to him by civil protection authorities.
In the morning, the operation was supported by two aerial resources.
According to the commander in charge of the operations, with aerial support, the “fight would be much easier, safer, and firefighters would not be exposed to so many dangers,” he stated.
