The fire was brought under control at 6:00 AM, a source from the Douro Sub-regional Command for Emergency and Civil Protection stated, noting that “consolidation and cooling efforts continue in both sectors.”
As of 7:30 AM today, 234 personnel were on the ground, supported by 78 land vehicles, according to the website of the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection (ANEPC).
The four main fires burning in mainland Portugal were, around that time, being fought by over 1,800 personnel.
According to the ANEPC portal, the Arganil (Coimbra) fire involves 845 personnel with the help of 287 land vehicles; the Trancoso (Guarda) fire has 452 firefighters and 148 vehicles; the Sátão (Viseu) fire involves 419 personnel and 137 vehicles; and the Cinfães (Viseu) fire is being managed by 95 personnel with the support of 26 land vehicles.
These are the largest fires included by Civil Protection in the list of ongoing rural fires (still not under control/resolution), among what are termed “significant occurrences,” characterized by their duration or the number of resources involved.
