
The Seia Municipal Council reported on social media concerning the wildfire situation in the Seia municipality, located in the Guarda district, emphasizing that the activation of the municipal emergency civil protection plan aims to “enhance operational coordination and support for the population by centralizing information and mobilizing the necessary resources for a quicker and more efficient response.”
The plan will be in effect until 11:59 PM on Monday, with a possible extension if necessary, according to the local authority.
The National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection (ANEPC) stated that by 8:50 PM, the wildfire that began at 10:29 AM in Sandomil, in a brush area, involved 625 personnel and 190 vehicles.
The Seia Council announced the reopening of the Municipal Road between Carragozela and Várzea, National Road 17 between Ponte de Santiago and Oliveira do Hospital, and Santiago and Santa Eulália, as well as the Assamassa Road between S. Romão and Catraia de S. Romão.
National Road 231, between São Romão and Valezim, and municipal roads from Vila Cova à Coelheira and between Corgas and Sandomil, remain closed.
The council advises residents to stay on alert, follow the authorities’ instructions, avoid traveling to affected areas, and comply with signage and orders on the ground.
