
The president of the Parish Council of Borbela and Lamas de Olo, José Armando, indicated at 6:15 PM that the village of Relva, located on the slope of the Alvão Mountain, was causing significant concern due to the proximity of the fire.
The mayor reported that elderly and vulnerable residents of this village were evacuated as a precaution.
According to the online page of the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC), by 6:15 PM, 292 operational personnel, 88 vehicles, and four aerial means were deployed to fight this fire.
The fire commenced on Saturday, the 2nd, in Sirarelhos, entered a resolution phase on Wednesday, was deemed concluded, and reignited on Saturday night at 9:06 PM, expanding in the afternoon due to strong winds and high temperatures.
The Alvão Mountain spans Vila Pouca de Aguiar, Ribeira de Pena, Vila Real, and Mondim de Basto, and within a week, fires have consumed areas in these four municipalities in three different incidents (Sirarelhos, Pinduradouro, and Alvadia), burning over 4,000 hectares in total.
The district of Vila Real is under a red alert for heat from 9:00 AM on Saturday until midnight on Monday, as reported by the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).
The government renewed the alert status in the country until Wednesday, August 13th, due to the risk of forest fires.
