“The information I have is that a vehicle from the Dafundo Volunteer Firefighters [Oeiras municipality, Lisbon district] overturned, resulting in four minor injuries who were transported to the Guarda hospital,” the source stated.
According to the GNR, the accident occurred at 5:40 pm, with the alert directed to the locality of Granja, Penedono municipality, Viseu district.
In the districts of Viseu and Guarda, hundreds of firefighters from across the country are combating a fire that originated from two blazes—Sátão (Viseu district) and Trancoso (Guarda district)—which merged into one on Friday, spreading to 11 municipalities in both districts.
The 11 affected municipalities include Sátão, Sernancelhe, Moimenta da Beira, Penedono, and São João da Pesqueira (Viseu district); Aguiar da Beira, Trancoso, Fornos de Algodres, Mêda, Celorico da Beira, and Vila Nova de Foz Coa (Guarda district).
The Vila Boa fire, in the parish of Ferreira de Aves, Sátão, Viseu district, was reported at 1:03 am on Wednesday, reaching Sernancelhe in Viseu district and Aguiar da Beira, Guarda district, the same day.
As of 6:25 pm today, 889 personnel, supported by 295 vehicles and an aircraft, were fighting this fire, according to the official website of the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection (ANEPC).
The alert for the Freches fire, in the municipality of Trancoso, Guarda district, was issued a week ago, on Saturday, the 9th, at 5:21 pm.
As of 6:25 pm today, 444 personnel, backed by 145 vehicles and three aerial means, were engaged in combating this blaze, as per ANEPC data.
