
A fire broke out at a recycling and scrap metal business in the Alto Barro industrial area of São Pedro do Sul this morning, with the alarm raised at 08:44. By 11:30, the fire remained active, according to the sub-regional civil protection command of Viseu Dão Lafões.
“So far, we have one firefighter with minor injuries. The location is a heap of scrap metal, and operations will take time,” an official stated, adding that it was unclear whether the company was operational at the time.
By 11:30, 56 personnel and 23 vehicles were engaged in firefighting efforts, involving entities including the GNR, São Pedro do Sul Volunteer Firefighters, São Pedro Sul Public Salvation Volunteer Firefighters, Santa Cruz da Trapa Volunteer Firefighters, Vouzela Volunteer Firefighters, and Viseu Volunteer Firefighters.
