The Volunteer Firefighters of Cernache do Bonjardim assisted in the early hours of Friday with the birth of a baby in an ambulance located in the village, right outside the family’s home.
“Our firefighters Celio Gaspar and Patrícia Simões, along with the Advanced Life Support team from Avelar including nurse Daniel and Technician Alves, were dispatched to assist a mother-to-be undergoing labor. Despite all efforts to reach the hospital in time, the baby decided the world could not wait and was born in the ambulance at the doorstep, in the arms of the heroes who once again demonstrated their commitment to the community,” read a post on the Cernache do Bonjardim Firefighters’ Facebook page.
This instance of urgency transformed into an “unforgettable story” for the team, who managed to maintain “calm” during such a “special and challenging moment.”
“Thanks to your competence and dedication, this new family experienced an unforgettable and safe moment. And, of course, we congratulate the parents Cristiana and Alexandre on the birth of their baby! May this new life be full of health, love, and happiness. Welcome to the world, little warrior! Welcome to the world, Frederica,” expressed the corporation on social media.
