The Matosinhos-Leça Volunteer Firefighters rescued a dog on Monday in the village of Perafita, which was “trapped in a storm drain pipe.”
After the rescue, the dog, named Monday, was handed over to the same person who had requested help from the local brigade and who had “previously saved the pup’s sibling.”
“Because everyone matters,” the Matosinhos-Leça Firefighters wrote on Facebook, in a post that also featured photos of the rescue.
In the comments section, several followers of the brigade’s page expressed gratitude to the operatives.
“Thank you for being great human beings,” “Many congratulations, thank you,” and “Pride, comrades,” are some of the messages left by the public.
The Matosinhos-Leça brigade currently comprises 59 firefighters and 24 vehicles. They also have a museum, whose visits are only available by appointment.
Earlier this year, in May, Bruno Fonseca became the new commander.
