According to information from the Sub-regional Command of Viseu Dão Lafões, two aerial resources were deployed early in the morning, and despite the fire still being active around 09:15 AM, “the work is progressing favorably for the firefighters.”
“There is no village in danger,” the source added.
Currently, 173 personnel are fighting the blaze, supported by 45 vehicles.
Mangualde fire chief Márcio Teles informed Lusa that the topography and strong winds initially pushed the fire towards the Salgueiro industrial area, but it was not hit. Some more isolated residences had teams on site for protection, and there was no immediate risk.
