According to the Douro Sub-Regional Command of Civil Protection, efforts to combat the fire in a scrubland area in the south of the Bragança district are “ongoing” and resources are “constantly being updated.”
As of 10:20 AM, 81 firefighters, 22 vehicles, and three aerial resources were involved in fighting the flames, according to the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC) website.
At 5:45 AM, the fire was in the mop-up phase, with 78 operatives and 22 vehicles remaining on site in the south of the Bragança district, as reported on the ANEPC portal.
The fire alert was issued at 1:29 PM on Friday, and during the afternoon, the main concern was to prevent the fire from spreading to the forest bordering the village of Masouco, in the Douro International Natural Park.
