The GNR has announced on Facebook that as part of the Safe Forest 2025 operation, the Nature and Environment Protection Service (SEPNA) activated the primary network of watch posts on May 5.
This network comprises “80 posts, staffed by 320 operators,” and will remain operational until November 3.
Starting today, the secondary network of watch posts is active, adding 150 posts “staffed by 600 operators, who will operate until October 15.”
These structures are part of the National Network of Watch Posts and work in conjunction with the Forest Surveillance System, which currently includes 147 surveillance cameras, enhancing monitoring, detection, and response to rural fires nationwide, according to the GNR.
The National Network of Watch Posts “ensures fixed detection of fire incidents and confirms their location, contributing to the swift deployment of firefighting resources across the continent.”
The GNR also notes that the SOS Environment and Territory Line (808 200 520) remains available for reports and inquiries.
