The Sub-regional Commander of Emergency and Civil Protection of Leiria, Carlos Guerra, stated that the two fires in the parishes of Pedrógão Grande and Graça (in the municipality of Pedrógão Grande), which started about an hour apart and are located very close to each other, have spread to the neighboring municipality of Sertã, in the district of Castelo Branco.
“All available resources are engaged in the firefighting operations, and the challenges are increased due to the wind. The second fire forced us to split our resources at the scene and reposition them,” said the commander.
