In a statement issued around 7:30 PM, officials from the municipality in the district of Porto reported that 261 personnel, 84 ground units, and four aerial units are currently engaged in firefighting efforts.
The statement added that municipal officials would remain vigilant during the aftermath of the fires.
Earlier in the afternoon, the mayor of Paredes, Alexandre Almeida, expressed concern about the potential spread of the fire to Aguiar, in the village of Aguiar de Sousa.
The alarm for the fire, which broke out in Recarei, was raised at 10:47 AM.
The A41 motorway, which passes through Recarei, was closed in both directions from early afternoon between Paços de Ferreira in Porto district and Espinho in Aveiro district.
