The national commander of Civil Protection, Mário Silvestre, stated on Tuesday that it is “the day with the most incidents recorded” this year, with a total of 132 incidents registered so far.
“Of all the active fires, there are 17 incidents that are in a heightened state. These are the ones that are of greater concern, involving 2,758 personnel, 870 vehicles, and 29 aerial missions engaged in these fires,” he said.
He added, “Obviously, we continue with the initial response setup, addressing all incidents that are continuing to emerge throughout the country.”
Mário Silvestre also noted that there are “43 incidents being resolved, involving 856 personnel and 252 vehicles,” and mentioned that in some locations, aerial resources remain operational to prevent “rekindling.”
