The firefighting efforts continue positively yet remain active on three fronts. One front is facing east towards the EN 231-1 road, another is oriented west towards the road connecting Vila Chã de Sá to Passos de Silgueiros, and a third, the head, is directed towards the village of Rebordinho, explained Rui Nogueira, the commander of the Viseu Firefighters.
The commander leading the operations in Vila Chã de Sá, in the Viseu municipality, further stated that this fire “began with great, great violence, fueled by the wind” and was first reported at 2:35 PM.
Currently, the front advancing towards Rebordinho is “beginning to yield to the firefighting efforts, but we are maintaining the other two eastern and western fronts,” said the commander at 7:30 PM to the Lusa agency.
In Rebordinho, Rui Nogueira noted, “there were projections, and defenses were made for some infrastructures, but, so far, there are no registered damages to infrastructures or injuries, although the risk remains but is more controlled.”
By 8:00 PM, a total of 121 personnel were combating the fire, supported by 33 vehicles and four aerial means, according to the official page of the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection (ANEPC).
