In a statement, the organization announced that, from 151 applications by authors residing in Portugal, the jury consisting of Emma Hardy, Augusto Brázio, and Mário Cruz awarded the prize of 3,500 euros to Nuno Andrade, who will have a solo exhibition at the Narrativa gallery in 2026.
The jury also awarded honorable mentions to José Pedro Sousa for the project ‘Olá mais tarde’ and to Katya Bogachevskaia for ‘Pele do Mundo’.
According to the cultural association’s statement, Nuno Andrade was awarded for “his remarkable ability to transform a peripheral and seemingly marginal territory into a space of revelation and belonging.”
“At Ponta dos Corvos [in Seixal], between the estuary and the city, the author finds a point of symbolic confluence where gestures of freedom, coexistence, and collective celebration are reflected. Without resorting to artifices, Nuno Andrade constructs a visual essay that prioritizes authenticity and spontaneous gesture,” the organization added about the work distinguished with the prize supported by Fujifilm.
Narrativa is a project developed since 2018 by photojournalist Mário Cruz, dedicated to the appreciation and dissemination of contemporary photography, particularly Portuguese.
In 2022, the Narrativa space was inaugurated in Lisbon, featuring a gallery and library, becoming a meeting point dedicated to Photography, hosting exhibitions, workshops, debates, training activities, and editorial launches.
In 2023, Narrativa became a non-profit association, including several photographers and photojournalists among its founders.
