
The National Republican Guard (GNR) released provisional data today, reporting 50 serious injuries and 649 minor injuries recorded in “Easter 2025 Operation,” which took place between April 11 and April 21 (Monday).
In the “Easter 2024 Operation,” from March 25 to April 1 of the previous year, the Guard noted 1,951 accidents, resulting in four fatalities, 23 serious injuries, and 517 minor injuries.
Regarding road safety checks, the GNR inspected 77,127 drivers, of whom 715 were found driving under the influence of alcohol.
Among these, 441 drivers were arrested for having a blood alcohol level of 1.2 g/l or higher.
Additionally, 233 individuals were detained for driving without a valid license.
The Guard documented a total of 13,401 infractions, including 3,705 for speeding, 274 for excessive alcohol consumption, 338 for improper use or lack of seat belts and/or child restraint systems (CRS), 397 for inappropriate use of mobile phones, 1,860 for lack of mandatory periodic inspection, and 590 for uninsured driving.
During the operation, the GNR arrested 45 individuals for drug trafficking, 16 for illegal possession or use of weapons, and 32 for theft or robbery.
The following were seized: 61,258 doses of hashish, 2,812 doses of cannabis, 4,332 doses of cocaine, 67 doses of heroin, 82,800 doses of MDMA, 106 weapons, and 50 vehicles.
As part of prevention and awareness efforts, the GNR visited 3,282 elderly individuals.
In a parallel statement, the Public Security Police (PSP) presented their assessment of the “Safe Easter 2025 Operation,” running from April 12 and concluding on Monday, noting the arrest of 902 individuals.
Of these arrests, 474 were related to road crimes, including 260 for driving under the influence of alcohol and 214 for driving without a valid license.
Since the onset of the operation, the PSP recorded 1,424 accidents, resulting in 435 injuries (22 serious and 413 minor), with no fatalities logged, contrasting with the previous year which saw one fatality.
The PSP inspected 15,990 drivers and monitored 60,524 vehicles with radar checks.
During the operation, the PSP detected 5,703 infractions, among them: 1,225 for speeding, 595 for lack of periodic mandatory inspection, 227 for lack of insurance, 152 for driving under the influence of alcohol, and 132 for mobile phone use while driving.
There were also 75 individuals arrested for property crimes (thefts and robberies) and 60 suspects for drug trafficking, leading to the seizure of over 50,700 individual doses.
Diverse pyrotechnic items and 68 weapons (including 20 firearms, 29 bladed weapons, and 19 others) were similarly confiscated.
Over the same period, 483 incidents of domestic violence were documented, with 13 suspects detained for such offenses.
