In a statement, the GNR announced that during an investigation related to a fire in Linhares, it was concluded that the ignition of the fire originated during fuel management work, using brush cutters equipped with a metal disc.
The suspects have been named as defendants, and the facts have been communicated to the Vila Flor Judicial Court in Bragança.
The GNR notes that burning and fires are major causes of wildfires in Portugal, emphasizing that they are prohibited whenever there is a very high or maximum rural fire danger.
At other times, burning is subject to authorization or prior notification.
