
Five people sustained minor injuries today following a gas pipe explosion inside a house in the municipality of Sousel, Portalegre district, according to the Civil Protection authority.
As reported by the Sub-Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command of Alto Alentejo, it was a “gas pipe explosion” that occurred inside a residence located at Monte da Torrinha in the Sousel municipality.
The five injured individuals, consisting of three women aged 51, 52, and 55, and two men aged 62 and 64, suffered “first and second-degree burns” and were transported to the Portalegre Hospital, the source noted.
The explosion reportedly “did not cause structural damage” to the property, and there was no need to relocate its residents, the source added.
The alert for the accident was issued at 14:48. Emergency services mobilized 24 personnel, supported by nine vehicles, along with the GNR and a vehicle from the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM).
