The Faro District Command of the Public Security Police (PSP) conducted a Special Criminal Prevention Operation early Friday morning, targeting illicit activities associated with nightlife.
The operation was conducted in the Baixa de Faro, as confirmed in a statement received Saturday by Notícias ao Minuto.
“This operation combined various aspects of police intervention, including conditions of stay for foreign citizens in national territory, inspection of commercial establishments, detection of serious traffic violations, prevention of drug trafficking and consumption, and possession of weapons in public areas,” the authority detailed.
Further details from Faro’s PSP indicated that the operation resulted in 60 administrative offenses for traffic violations, five citations related to improper functioning of establishments, and one for narcotics. Additionally, a foreign citizen was notified to regularize their status in the country, and two prohibited weapons were seized.
The Faro authorities assured in the statement their continued strong commitment to criminal prevention, aiming to restrict weapon possession while strengthening their presence in public areas, thereby enhancing the sense of security of all citizens served.
