On Sunday, the obstetrics emergency at Portimão Hospital is set to reopen while the gynecology and obstetrics emergency at Vila Franca de Xira Hospital will close.
Emergency services for these specialties at the hospitals in Barreiro, Setúbal, Portimão, and Abrantes remain closed today as per schedules reviewed at 07:45.
The gynecology and obstetrics emergency services at Vila Franca de Xira Hospital, Beatriz Ângelo Hospital in Loures, and Santo André Hospital in Leiria will be restricted throughout today, attending only cases referred by CODU/INEM.
Pediatric emergencies at Vila Franca de Xira Hospital are also constrained over the weekend, handling only cases referred by INEM, similarly occurring at Beatriz Ângelo Hospital in Loures from 20:00 to 24:00.
The SNS portal schedules show that 128 emergency services are open nationwide, along with 31 gynecology and obstetrics services operating under a pilot project, requiring prior contact with the SNS 24 line.
These emergency service constraints are primarily due to a lack of specialist doctors to cover schedules, a situation more common during holiday periods like summer and extended weekends, as seen this week.
Health authorities urge the public to contact the SNS24 Line (808 24 24 24) for appropriate guidance before visiting an emergency room.
