
The price of a basket containing 63 essential food items decreased between April 9 and April 16, according to an analysis by DECO PROteste.
Experts noted that this week, the basket costs 236.87 euros, representing a decrease of 1.29 euros compared to the previous week.
However, when compared to January 5, 2022, when the entity began its analysis, the basket cost 49.17 euros less.
Fish nuggets and beef are the products that registered the largest increase compared to last week, both rising by about 11%.
Regarding the same period last year, beef again takes the top spot with a variation of 46%. This is followed by eggs, which saw an increase of 38%, and black scabbardfish, which became 31% more expensive.
Since the beginning of the year, eggs have recorded the largest price increase (27%). Closely following were beef (23%) and Roma tomatoes (19%).
The basket includes meat, frozen foods, fruits and vegetables, dairy products, grocery items, and fish, among other products, considering items such as turkey, chicken, horse mackerel, hake, onion, potato, carrot, banana, apple, orange, rice, spaghetti, sugar, ham, milk, cheese, and butter.
