Food basket is more expensive. Find out how much it costs (and how much it has increased)

The price of a basic food basket increased in the week between April 23 and April 30, according to a price monitoring by DECO PROteste. The basket, consisting of 63 essential food items, now costs 239.42 euros, which is 69 cents more than last week.

In a statement sent to newsrooms, the association also indicated that compared to the same period in 2024, “there is a difference of 4.23€”.

According to the analysis dated April 30, the onion experienced the most significant price increase last week, rising by 16%. This was followed by spiral pasta (+12%) and ground roasted coffee (+12%).

When compared to the same period in 2024, eggs (+33%), ground roasted coffee (29%), and boiling beef (29%) were the foods with the highest price increases.

From the beginning of the year, between January 1 and April 30, 2025, the largest price increases were recorded in products such as eggs (+26%), salmon (+19%), and tomato cherries (+18%).

Notably, the analyzed food basket is composed of 63 essential items, including “meat, frozen foods, fruits and vegetables, dairy products, groceries, and fish,” but you can view the complete list here.
