Food trucks near the Sporting stadium relocated after a CML order.

Lisbon’s mayor expressed hopes for a festive atmosphere without incidents, stating, “We hope the celebration is enjoyable and that everything proceeds smoothly.”

The operation of food establishments around the stadium has been curtailed today due to potential celebrations marking a football championship victory.

This limitation on business hours and operations stems from an order issued by the Lisbon City Council. The order followed a request from the Metropolitan Command of the PSP regarding the match between Sporting and Vitória SC and any ensuing championship celebrations.

The municipality’s directive, which was sent via email by the PSP on Thursday, mandates the closure of nearly 20 businesses surrounding the José Alvalade stadium from 1:00 PM on Saturday until 7:00 AM on Sunday.

Besides restricting business hours, the municipal order, directed by Mayor Carlos Moedas of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), also regulates the operation of the food trucks located on Francisco Stromp and António Stromp streets. These food trucks are licensed by the Lumiar Parish Council.

Ricardo Mexia, the president of the Lumiar Parish Council, commented to the Lusa news agency that the PSP’s imposed restrictions have not been “welcomed with particular satisfaction” by the local merchants operating around the José Alvalade Stadium, specifically those running the food trucks.

In light of the situation, an alternative arrangement has been sought.
