A 48-year-old foreign national has been identified and detained “in the act” by the Polícia Judiciária (PJ) as a suspected perpetrator of a drug trafficking crime at Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport in Porto.
A PJ statement elaborates that the suspect, who arrived on a flight from Brazil, was intercepted upon landing at the airport.
“Among her personal belongings, interspersed with clothing, she carried various bottles of shampoo and other hygiene products,” the statement reads.
Authorities detailed that “the narcotic was concealed within the containers and appeared in the form of cream or dissolved in a liquid solution” with the aim of “evading detection during potential inspections.”
“Upon analysis, it was confirmed to be cocaine with a total weight of approximately 15 kg,” the statement added.
The PJ disclosed that this was the “second incident” detected by them “at that airport within a week.”
The detained individual will be brought before the competent judicial authorities for an initial interrogation and the imposition of any potential coercive measures.
