A police operation at Lisbon Airport resulted in the arrest of a 45-year-old woman found in possession of heroin with a high purity level, equivalent to approximately one million individual doses, the Polícia Judiciária (PJ) announced on Tuesday.
Without specifying when the operation took place, the PJ stated that the arrest occurred “within the framework of regular police operations aimed at preventing and suppressing the introduction of narcotics into national territory.”
The drugs were transported from an Asian country to Lisbon, “meticulously concealed in the suspect’s luggage.” The suspect is set to appear before the judicial authority for an initial hearing and potential application of preventive measures.
The investigation is ongoing under the jurisdiction of the Polícia Judiciária, with the inquiry managed by the 1st Section of the DIAP in Lisbon.
