Foreigners identified for illegal stay in the country at a house in Beja

A statement revealed that residents were living in a house in the city center of Beja, reportedly being used by a large number of foreign nationals without meeting minimum standards of hygiene and habitability.

The police operation took place a week ago, on Tuesday, November 25.

“During this action, 22 foreign citizens were identified and inspected, with indications that the space was being used by a significantly higher number of residents, considering the number of beds installed,” the police authority stated.

Among the residents, four individuals were found to be staying illegally in the country and were therefore notified to leave the territory voluntarily.

The intervention happened on the same day the Judiciary Police dismantled a criminal network assisting illegal immigration in several locations, including Beja, part of the “Safra Justa” operation.

However, a PSP source informed Lusa today that there is no connection between the action in the residence where the four foreigners were identified and “Safra Justa”.
