Forest fire in Chamusca in resolution phase

The fire that broke out this afternoon in a forest area in Chamusca, district of Santarém, was at 21:00 in the resolution phase, according to the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection (ANEPC).

The commander of operations, Paulo Cardoso, told Lusa that the fire is “practically solved” and that the aerial means were withdrawn with the approach of sunset, having been reinforced the means on the ground to replenish the water tanks.

The alert for the fire was given at 15:58 in the village of Vale da Vaca, in the parish of Carregueira, in Chamusca.

In the afternoon, almost 150 operatives were fighting the fire, which did not threaten any houses.

The commander said that during the firefight a firefighter was slightly injured “by trauma to a lower limb”, and was taken to the Hospital of Santarém without major concerns.
