The fire, with three active fronts, had around this time the “head of the fire 50% controlled” while the right and left fronts were “40% controlled,” stated a source from the Sub-regional Command for Emergency and Civil Protection of Beiras and Serra da Estrela.
The incident resulted in a firefighter sustaining “minor injuries to a lower limb.”
The fire began at 4:21 p.m., and by 6:45 p.m., it was being tackled by 234 personnel, 65 ground units, and 10 aerial units, according to the Civil Protection website.
