Former Minister of Economy Pedro Reis resigns from his position as a deputy.

At the start of the plenary session, replacements of deputies were announced following resignations and suspensions of mandates.

Pedro Reis, who headed the Ministry of Economy in the previous government, did not transition to the current administration. The minister Manuel Castro Almeida has taken over the portfolios of Economy and Territorial Cohesion.

Pedro Reis was the lead candidate of the PSD/CDS-PP coalition for the Castelo Branco electoral district. Following his resignation, Leonor Cipriano assumed the mandate “definitively” starting June 5.

It was also announced that former Secretaries of State Cristina Vaz Tomé and José Cesário, who also left the government, will assume their mandates as deputies.

At the commencement of the session, it was further announced that ministers and secretaries of state from the current government, who are taking on governmental roles, will have their deputy mandates suspended.

In the Chega Parliamentary Group, it was announced that deputy Cristina Rodrigues suspended her mandate “for criminal procedure follow-up,” and will be replaced by Luísa Maria Teixeira Vasco.
