The PJ announced that four suspects were arrested on Tuesday in an operation connected to an earlier arrest involving four men at Porto airport on July 16. These men arrived from Brazil with suitcases containing 100 kilograms of cocaine and were placed in preventive detention after initial judicial questioning.
The investigations continued, leading to the identification and detention of these additional four individuals.
“It was possible to identify other members of the network who, at a higher level, not only recruited and prepared operatives entering the airport but also liaised with the international aspect of the group,” the PJ clarified.
The detainees, three men and a woman aged between 22 and 34, are charged with aggravated drug trafficking and criminal association.
The suspects are to be presented for initial judicial interrogation today at the Matosinhos Judicial Court in the Porto district.
