The military officers of the GNR Guard intercepted a vehicle and discovered it was transporting a large quantity of copper, without a valid justification for its origin, the Territorial Command of the GNR of Guarda stated in a note.
The suspects, aged between 27 and 53, were named defendants by the Guarda’s Criminal Investigation Unit (NIC) on Tuesday.
They are accused of the crime of theft of non-precious metals.
A total of 280 kilograms of copper, a vehicle, and a manual shear, typically used in such illegal activities, were seized, the GNR reported.
The operation was supported by the Guarda Traffic Detachment, and the details have been communicated to the Judicial Court of Guarda.
