“These arrests follow the inspection actions that have been carried out by the PSP, as part of the new responsibilities regarding the control of foreigners and borders,” the police authority clarified in a statement.
According to the PSP, those individuals, aged between 30 and 41, had already been notified in March of this year to voluntarily leave the country after inspections at their residences and workplaces, such as construction sites and hospitality establishments.
After the deadlines for voluntary departure passed, they were subjected to a new inspection and, since they did not comply with the instruction, were detained on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, they were submitted to their first judicial interrogation and were ordered to report periodically to a police station while the coercive removal process, instructed by the Agency for Integration, Migrations and Asylum (AIMA), is ongoing.
