An alert was received around 13:25, confirming that the fire had already been brought under control, according to the Sub-Regional Command of the Porto Metropolitan Area.
The Vila Nova de Gaia Fire Department reported four victims, one of whom sustained more serious injuries and was transported to the Hospital of São João. The remaining individuals received medical attention at the scene.
Officials stated that it was not necessary to evacuate the building. However, the Sub-Regional Command of Porto noted that the apartment suffered significant damage, and the need to relocate the affected family is being assessed.
The cause of the fire remains unknown.
