The arrests were carried out following investigations, under warrants issued outside of a criminal offense, as stated in a release by the Porto Metropolitan Command of the PSP.
In the case of the four suspects, the victims are women aged between 33 and 55, who were “subjected to physical, psychological abuse, and harassment,” according to the police. It was noted that in one instance, the victim was monitored using tracking devices.
The detainees have already undergone preliminary judicial interrogation and have been subjected to restraining orders, prohibiting them from approaching the residence of the victims and having any contact with them.
According to the PSP, in connection with the 26-year-old woman also detained in this operation, her victim was her 35-year-old partner, who was “subjected to threats and physical assaults.”
The PSP further clarifies that the woman “has records of self-inflicted bodily harm as well as suicide attempts,” and after appearing before a judge, she was ordered to be admitted to the psychiatric ward of a hospital specializing in mental health disorders.
