The emergency services of a certain specialty at Hospital Infante Dom Pedro in Aveiro will be closed on Saturday, reopening the following day.
On Sunday, the gynecology and obstetrics emergency services of the hospitals in Barreiro, Setúbal, and Abrantes will be closed, as indicated by schedules checked at 3:00 PM today.
The gynecology and obstetrics emergency services at the hospitals of Amadora/Sintra, Setúbal, Vila Franca de Xira, Santarém, São Francisco Xavier (Lisbon), Abrantes, and Leiria will operate on a limited basis on Saturday, attending only cases referred by CODU/INEM.
Pediatric emergencies at the hospitals of Vila Franca de Xira and Beatriz Ângelo in Loures will also face constraints over the weekend, attending only cases referred by INEM.
The schedules available on the SNS Portal indicate that on Saturday, 126 emergency services will be open across the country, alongside 33 gynecology and obstetrics units operating under a pilot project requiring patients to call the SNS 24 Line before heading to the hospital.
On Sunday, 127 emergency services, in addition to 33 gynecology and obstetrics units, will be open nationwide.
The emergency service constraints primarily result from a shortage of specialist doctors for the schedules, a situation more common during holiday periods like summer and long weekends, such as this week.
Health authorities advise the public to contact the SNS 24 Line (808 24 24 24) for appropriate guidance before visiting emergency services.
