
The maritime bars of Douro, Esposende, Caminha, Vila Praia de Âncora, Póvoa do Varzim, Vila do Conde, portinho da Ericeira, Alvor, Vila Real de Santo António, Faro, Olhão, Quarteira, Tavira, and Vilamoura are currently closed to navigation, as indicated on the website of the Portuguese Maritime Authority.
The bars of Aveiro, Figueira da Foz, Albufeira, and Portimão are facing navigation restrictions.
Due to maritime agitation, the district of Faro is under an orange alert from the IPMA until 6:00 PM today, after which it will change to yellow. The districts of Setúbal, Lisbon, and Beja are also under yellow alert until the weekend due to strong maritime disturbances.
An orange alert is issued by the IPMA when there is a moderate to high-risk weather situation, while a yellow alert is for scenarios with potential risk for certain weather-dependent activities.
Since Wednesday, mainland Portugal and the Madeira archipelago have been affected by the depression Claudia, bringing heavy rain, strong winds, and turbulent seas.
Due to the adverse weather conditions, IPMA issued a red alert (until 10:00 AM today) for the districts of Setúbal and Santarém.
Meteorological warnings have been issued for the districts of Viseu, Évora, Porto, Guarda, Faro, Viana do Castelo, Lisbon, Leiria, Beja, Castelo Branco, Aveiro, Coimbra, Portalegre, and Braga, predicting heavy and persistent rain until Saturday.
Bragança is also under a yellow alert due to rain until 9:00 PM on Friday.
The IPMA has additionally issued a yellow wind advisory for Viseu, Évora, Porto, Guarda, Faro, Vila Real, Setúbal, Santarém, Viana do Castelo, Lisbon, Leiria, Beja, Castelo Branco, Aveiro, Coimbra, Portalegre, and Braga until 9:00 PM today.
