Fourteen people have died in a week, ten of them between Thursday and Sunday, in road accidents, according to provisional data available on the National Republican Guard (GNR) website.
Between 00:00 last Monday and 24:00 Sunday, the GNR recorded 1,323 accidents in its area of operation, resulting in 14 deaths and 26 serious injuries.
On Sunday, 182 accidents were recorded, resulting in four deaths and nine serious injuries, making it the day with the highest number of casualties.
According to GNR, on Sunday, an accident involving a light vehicle and two motorcycles in the Arrábida mountains, Setúbal, left two people dead and two seriously injured.
Two other people died on Sunday in accidents in the Lisbon and Viana do Castelo districts.
On Thursday’s public holiday, 187 accidents were recorded, leaving three people dead and one seriously injured.
On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, GNR recorded 548 accidents, seven deaths and 15 serious injuries.
