The Public Prosecutor’s Office has accused Deputy Pedro Frazão of posting a video on Twitter featuring a young activist or supporter of the Left Bloc, who claims to have been a victim of non-consensual sexual acts by an individual associated with the party.
Alongside the video, Frazão commented: “Is there no more Purity in the Bloc of Indecency? #MeToo.” He further questioned, “Who is the disgusting 62-year-old?”
This publication was made in 2021, during which José Manuel Pureza served as the vice-president of the Assembly of the Republic and was an elected deputy for the Left Bloc.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office contends that Pedro Frazão was fully aware that José Manuel Pureza was a member of the Left Bloc’s governing bodies, had been elected as a deputy for that party, and was 62 years old.
Moreover, the prosecutorial body argued that Frazão understood that his words, published on a social media account, were accessible to a wide audience and cast suspicion regarding a potential crime against sexual freedom and self-determination.
