
“This temporary closure will allow for comprehensive and lasting treatment,” the institution stated in a communication on Friday, ensuring that the seating and carpet of the rooms will be treated with dry steam at 180 degrees in several treatment sessions.
Subsequent canine checks will take place to validate the disinfestation, with a priority focus on “the safety, comfort, and well-being of the public.”
Bedbug infestations have become a recurring issue in the French capital, with cases multiplying in certain neighborhoods over recent months.
The cinémathèque emphasized, however, that other areas, such as the current exhibition dedicated to Orson Welles, will remain open.
The film screening rooms are scheduled to reopen on January 2, 2026, for a retrospective on Scandinavian noir cinema, followed five days later by another featuring David Gordon Green.
