
A 36-year-old French woman, a diving enthusiast, was rescued near Ilhéu das Formigas, São Miguel Island, Azores, after an alleged diving accident, the National Maritime Authority announced today.
In a statement, the National Maritime Authority detailed that the crew from the Ponta Delgada Life-saving Station conducted the rescue on Thursday afternoon.
“Following an alert received at 5:50 PM local time [one hour later in Lisbon] from the Hyperbaric Medicine Center of the Hospital Divino Espírito Santo, reporting a diving accident, crew members from the Ponta Delgada Life-saving Station were immediately dispatched to the site,” it stated.
The victim was transported to the Ponta Delgada Marina dock, where she received assistance from firefighters and was subsequently taken to a hospital.
