Francisca Maria Souza dos Santos, 44, has been missing for precisely 44 days, since June 20. The ongoing mystery surrounding her disappearance has sparked widespread discussion, and her boyfriend, Luís Jesus, has become a subject of suspicion.
In recent days, numerous reports have emerged in various media outlets about the man, who has allegedly been questioned by the Polícia Judiciária (PJ).
Initial suspicions arose from Luís Jesus’s approach to his girlfriend’s mother, who resides in Brazil, following her disappearance.
Through several voice messages sent to the mother of the Brazilian immigrant, he consistently declared his innocence, asserting he had a “clear conscience.”
However, according to Francisca’s brother, Antônio Santos, Luís Jesus seemed interested in learning more about her past relationships and acquiring information about the investigation into her disappearance.
Suspicious Notes and Missing Bank Card
In addition to the lights being on and the television playing, other details have raised the family’s suspicions. Several files had been erased from Francisca’s computer, and her email account showed no received or sent items.
There was also a note left in the Bible and a strange letter. “I have a marriage with Luís Jesus, whom I love very much and am very happy and grateful,” reads the note allegedly written by Francisca and found in the Bible by her brother at her rented home in Tabuaço.
Ismael Tomé, Francisca’s landlord, shared in an interview with SIC Notícias that a letter was found at the residence expressing “disappointment,” along with a wedding band. These hints gave Ismael the impression that the Brazilian had a falling out with her boyfriend.
Additionally, Francisca’s brother confirmed in interviews with various media outlets that her salary account’s bank card disappeared, along with the note where she supposedly wrote its PIN. The whereabouts of these items are unknown, but suspicion lingers.
Luís Is Not a Doctor but a Trash Collector. And He’s Been Married for 15 Years
On Wednesday, July 23, Correio da Manhã revealed that Luís Jesus, contrary to what he allegedly told Francisca and her family, is not a surgeon at CUF Lisboa. He is reportedly a trash collector in Loures.
According to the newspaper, Luís Jesus has been living with a woman in Lisbon for about 15 years, a fact he reportedly concealed from Francisca and her family, with whom he frequently communicated.
The couple reportedly met on the dating site Badoo, widely used by the Brazilian community, around two years ago. However, Francisca was not the only Brazilian woman Luis contacted on this app seeking extramarital relationships.
Luís Met Women Online. “Not Right in the Head”
Simultaneously, the SIC program “Linha Aberta” revealed that Luís initiated conversations with other Brazilian women and arranged to meet them.
One woman told SIC journalists that he was “not right in the head,” exhibited “some psychological disturbance,” and had an “incoherent speech.”
This woman also was told by him that he had a profession other than a trash collector. He claimed to be a security guard but never revealed his workplace.
Neighbors “Terrified.” Luís Linked to Sister’s Death?
According to the same program, neighbors of the property Luís owns in Bairro do Catujal, in Unhos, Loures, are “terrified” by his presence. They suspect his involvement in the death of his sister years ago.
This version is corroborated by Correio da Manhã in its latest edition. According to the paper, Rita, who allegedly died at 48 from an aneurysm, had been reportedly abused for years by her brother and even locked in the house.
Neighbors filed complaints and called the police multiple times, but no action was taken. The woman would always absolve her brother, claiming she had fallen.
The local community now hopes Francisca’s disappearance prompts authorities to reopen the investigation into Rita’s assault, who lived on the estate Luís claimed was his to Francisca.
It is noteworthy that Francisca, 44, has been missing since June 20. The Brazilian immigrant, residing in Portugal for four years, was last seen on that night wearing pajamas, going to dispose of household trash.
She only had her mobile phone with her, which lost its signal near the trash bins.
