The retirement age in Portugal is set to rise to 66 years and 11 months by 2027, based on life expectancy data released by the National Institute of Statistics (INE) on Thursday.
The provisional estimate for life expectancy at age 65 for the period 2023-2025, announced by the INE today, stands at 20.19 years. This reflects an increase of 0.17 years (approximately 2.04 months) compared to the period 2022-2024.
Currently, 48,203 consumers benefit from a social support card for food purchases, according to DECO PROteste. The initiative is aimed at supporting economically disadvantaged families. “People facing economic hardship and at risk of social exclusion in Mainland Portugal are prioritized to receive the electronic social card. This support aims to assist in purchasing food and essential goods and is expected to last until January 2027,” explains the consumer protection organization.
