Fugitive from Vale de Judeus caught in Alicante was handed over to the PJ

One of the last two fugitives from Vale de Judeus Prison, Argentine Rodolfo José Lohrmann, was handed over to the Polícia Judiciária (PJ) on Thursday after being captured in Alicante, Spain, in February of this year.

The Polícia Judiciária announced in a statement that the handover followed “persistent and uninterrupted work in gathering and exchanging information between the PJ and Spanish authorities, in close coordination with the Prosecutor General’s Office”.

The statement adds that “a formal extradition request was timely presented by the Prosecutor General’s Office, and it was granted by the authorities of the Kingdom of Spain”.

Rodolfo José Lohrmann is now in Monsanto high-security prison.

The Polícia Judiciária further recalls that “Rodolfo José Lohrmann has an extensive criminal career” and was “linked to highly organized and especially violent international crime, including crimes of criminal association, money laundering, bank robbery, possession of prohibited weapons, document falsification/counterfeiting, and aggravated theft”.

He was initially “investigated by the National Unit Against Terrorism of the PJ, for multiple armed robberies” and “apprehended together with other members of a criminal association dedicated solely to committing violent crimes”.

He escaped in September 2024, while serving “a 20-year prison sentence”.

He was caught alongside British national Mark Cameron Roscaleer; the last fugitives from Vale de Judeus began committing crimes in Spain before their capture.

Fábio Loureiro, a 33-year-old Portuguese, was recaptured on October 7, 2024, in Tangier, Morocco, and is awaiting extradition to Portugal.

A month later, 61-year-old Portuguese Fernando Ribeiro Ferreira was arrested at a house in a small village in the municipality of Montalegre, and on December 10, Georgian Shergili Farjiani, 40, was recaptured in Italy.

At the time of their escape, the five inmates were serving sentences ranging from seven to 25 years for drug trafficking, criminal association, robbery, abduction, and money laundering, among other crimes.
