The new government is meeting today in an informal Council of Ministers in Óbidos, Leiria, with all the members of the executive, following the swearing-in of the Secretaries of State on Friday.

This informal meeting of the Council of Ministers, in the noble hall of Óbidos Town Hall, starting at 09:30, will be the first to include the secretaries of state of the executive led by the Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro.

In addition to the meeting, a photograph of the 59 leaders – the prime minister, 17 ministers and 41 secretaries of state – is also scheduled to take place in Santa Maria Square.

The first meeting of the government, but only with the prime minister and ministers who took office last Tuesday, took place the very next day, April 3.

According to the Minister for the Presidency, António Leitão Amaro, the first decision was to “change the official logo used in the communication” of the executive, which had already been reflected on Tuesday on the Internet and internal communications, a measure that drew criticism from the opposition on the left, with PS, PCP and BE downplaying the relevance of this change.

The minister said that the logo of the XXIV Government will once again feature “the armillary sphere, with the shield, quinas and castles that the Portuguese people see themselves in”, fulfilling a commitment made by Luís Montenegro long before the campaign for the March elections.

The Council of Ministers also decided to move forward with the preparation of the program that must be presented in parliament by next Wednesday, the 10th, and to mandate the Minister of Justice to start a dialogue with all parties, agents in the sector and civil society for an agenda to fight corruption.
